Relocation

/ˌriːloʊˈkeɪʃən/ noun

Definition

The action of moving to a new place and establishing one's home or business there.

Etymology

From 're-' (again) plus 'location' from Latin 'locare' meaning 'to place'. The term became common in the 20th century as mobility increased and corporations began moving employees between offices.

Kelly Says

Corporate relocation packages became standard after WWII when companies expanded nationally and needed to move skilled workers. The most expensive corporate relocation in history was reportedly $1.2 million for a single executive move to Japan.
