Reminders

/rɪˈmaɪndərz/ noun

Definition

Things that help you remember something, or messages or alerts that tell you about something you need to do.

Etymology

From 're-' (again) and 'mind' (to remember, from Old English 'mynd'). A reminder puts something back into your mind that had slipped out.

Kelly Says

Our brains naturally forget things within hours, which is why reminders exist—Ebbinghaus proved this with 'forgetting curves' in 1885, and now your phone reminds you every day what your brain evolved to let go!
