Remodeled

/ˌriːˈmɑdəld/ verb

Definition

To change, redesign, or rebuild something (especially a house or building) into a new form.

Etymology

From 're-' (again) and 'model' from Italian 'modello,' derived from Latin 'modulus' (a small measure). The idea of modeling comes from making a small version to plan the real thing.

Kelly Says

The word 'model' originally meant a small-scale copy you'd build first to test your design—architects still do this today! So 'remodeling' literally means 'making a new small-scale plan and rebuilding,' which is exactly what contractors do when they renovate houses.
