Definition
Resentment is a deep, lasting feeling of anger or bitterness because you believe you have been treated unfairly. It often builds up when problems are not talked about or resolved.
Etymology
From French *ressentiment* meaning 'intense feeling', from *ressentir* 'to feel strongly'. English focused this strong feeling on the experience of being wronged or insulted.
Kelly Says
Resentment is like emotional debt—you keep an internal record of what someone 'owes' you. The tricky part is that the other person often doesn’t even know the debt exists.
