Definition
Scope is the range or extent of something, such as how much it includes or how far it reaches.
Etymology
From Italian “scopo” meaning “aim, purpose, target,” from Greek “skopos” meaning “watcher, target.” It’s related to verbs about looking and aiming, like “to scope out.”
Kelly Says
When you “scope out” a problem, you’re really deciding what’s in and what’s out of your mental picture. Changing the scope of a project can completely change how hard or easy it feels.
