Definition
A scorpion is a small animal with eight legs, pincers like a crab, and a curved tail with a stinger at the end.
Etymology
From Old French “scorpion,” from Latin “scorpio,” from Greek “skorpios,” all referring to the same stinging creature. The word has stayed surprisingly stable across languages.
Kelly Says
Scorpions glow under ultraviolet light, so with the right lamp they look like living neon signs. They’ve been around for hundreds of millions of years, surviving almost unchanged while entire dinosaur species came and went.
