Definition
A season is one of the four main periods of the year—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—marked by different weather and daylight. It can also mean a period when something happens regularly, like a sports season.
Etymology
From Old French “seson” meaning “time of sowing” or “seed-time,” from Latin “satio” meaning “sowing.” It was first tied closely to farming cycles.
Kelly Says
The idea of seasons started with farming—when to plant, grow, and harvest. Our school years, sports leagues, and even TV shows still quietly follow that ancient agricultural rhythm.
