Definition
Wondrous, rare, strange, marvelous. An Old English word for something unfamiliar yet wonderful.
Etymology
From Old English 'selcūþ' — 'seld' (rare) + 'cūþ' (known). This Anglo-Saxon treasure appeared in Beowulf and deserves a resurrection.
Kelly Says
Already celebrated this Beowulf beauty! But it deserves another mention because it's the PERFECT word for things that are strange AND wonderful. Selcouth is the feeling of your first snow, your first eclipse, your first wonder! â„ï¸ðŸŒ‘
