Shouted

/ˈʃaʊtɪd/ verb

Definition

Called out loudly or spoke in a loud voice, typically to be heard over distance or noise.

Etymology

From Middle English 'shouten', possibly from Old Norse 'skúta' meaning to shoot or dart forward. The word originally implied a sudden, forceful emission of voice, similar to shooting an arrow - quick, directed, and powerful.

Kelly Says

Shouting actually changes the fundamental frequency and harmonic structure of your voice so dramatically that voice recognition software often fails to identify shouted speech, even from the same speaker. This is why emergency operators are trained to ask people to speak normally rather than yell, even in crisis situations.
