Transcript

/ˈtrænskrɪpt/ noun

Definition

A written or printed copy of spoken words, or an official record of a student’s courses and grades.

Etymology

It comes from Latin 'transcriptum', from 'transcribere' meaning 'to copy' or 'to write across' ('trans' = across + 'scribere' = to write). It originally referred to any written copy.

Kelly Says

A transcript turns sound or experience into text, freezing time into lines on a page. School transcripts do the same for years of learning, squeezing your academic life into a few neat rows of numbers and letters.
