Definition
The plural of trillion, which is the number 1,000,000,000,000 (one million millions).
Etymology
From the French 'trillion' coined in the 17th century using the prefix 'tri-' (three) and the suffix '-illion' (as in million), representing three sets of six zeros in the long scale system.
Kelly Says
In English, we use 'trillion' in the short scale (12 zeros), but many countries use the long scale where a trillion has 18 zeros—the same word means totally different numbers depending on where you live!
