Triumphal

/traɪˈʌmfəl/ adjective

Definition

Relating to or celebrating a great victory or success, often used to describe grand processions or monuments.

Etymology

From Latin 'triumphalis' (of a triumph), from 'triumphus' (a victory procession). Romans celebrated generals with elaborate triumphal parades.

Kelly Says

Roman triumphal arches were propaganda monuments—they glorified military conquest and empire-building, yet we still copy their design today in Arc de Triomphe and countless government buildings.
