Two-point

/ˈtu pɔɪnt/ adjective

Definition

Referring to a scoring play worth two points, such as a two-point conversion in football or a field goal in basketball. In football, it's an alternative to kicking an extra point after a touchdown.

Etymology

Simple compound from 'two' (Old English 'twa') and 'point' from Old French 'point' meaning a mark or score. The two-point conversion was added to college football in 1958 and NFL in 1994.

Kelly Says
