Unfastening or loosening a knot or something that has been tied together.
Etymology
Prefix 'un-' (opposite of, reversal) plus 'tying' (present participle of 'tie' from Old English 'tīgan'). The prefix 'un-' is one of the most productive in English for reversing actions.
