Unwind

/ʌnˈwaɪnd/ verb

Definition

to relax after stress or work; to untangle or unroll something that was wound up.

Etymology

From Old English 'un-' (to reverse) plus 'wind' (to coil). It literally means to reverse the winding process, but came to mean psychological relaxation as a metaphor.

Kelly Says

Your body's parasympathetic nervous system—your 'unwind' system—is activated by specific triggers like deep breathing and warmth, which is why hot baths and slow music actually work physiologically, not just psychologically.
