Definition
Destroying, damaging, or demolishing something completely, often deliberately.
Etymology
From 'wreck,' derived from Old Norse 'wrek' meaning 'wreckage' or 'driven goods.' The word originally referred to cargo washed ashore, then came to mean destruction.
Kelly Says
Wrecking balls, those giant swinging spheres on cranes, were invented in the early 1900s and made demolishing tall buildings way safer than earlier methods—now they're icons of urban destruction!
