Etymology
From anti- (against) + racing (the activity of running races). Racing comes from Old Norse 'ras' meaning rush or running. 'Antiracing' is a modern formation combining the prefix with the gerund form of race.

In the 1800s, some religious groups were genuinely 'antiracing' because they saw gambling associated with horse racing as sinful—so this word actually has roots in moral reform movements!
