Definition
Relating to or caused by arthritis, the inflammation of one or more joints.
Etymology
From Greek 'arthritis' (inflammation of joints) + Latin '-ic' (relating to). The root 'arthron' means joint, and the word evolved from ancient medical texts to describe the disease itself.
Kelly Says
Arthritis has plagued humans for thousands of years—Egyptian mummies show signs of it, and the word hasn't changed much since Hippocrates used it over 2,000 years ago to describe creaky joints.
