Definition
Multiple states of supreme happiness; or the eight specific blessings from Jesus's Sermon on the Mount (Blessed are the poor in spirit, those who mourn, etc.).
Etymology
Plural of 'beatitude', from Latin 'beatitūdines'. The Christian Beatitudes are the most famous usage, listed in Matthew 5:3-10.
Kelly Says
The eight Beatitudes are sometimes called 'the portrait of Jesus' because they describe the character and virtues Christ exemplified—it's beautiful poetry written to define happiness through spiritual maturity, not wealth or power.
