Definition
Small, round, dark blue berries that grow on bushes and are sweet and nutritious.
Etymology
From 'blue' (the color) plus 'berry' (a small fruit). The plant name 'blueberry' is attested from the 1600s in North America, where the berries grew wild.
Kelly Says
Blueberries are basically brain food—they're packed with anthocyanins, a compound that might help protect brain cells from damage and has been linked to better memory in both kids and elderly people!
