Definition
Relating to or of the nature of a centroid, the geometric center or point of balance of a shape or object.
Etymology
From 'centroid' (a 19th-century term combining Latin 'centrum' with Greek '-oid' meaning resembling) + '-al' (adjective suffix).
Kelly Says
Architects and engineers constantly calculate centroidal positions when designing bridges and buildings—get the centroid wrong and your structure will tip or collapse!
