Citing

/ˈsaɪtɪŋ/ verb

Definition

Quoting or referring to a source, author, or piece of evidence as support for an argument; mentioning as an example or authority.

Etymology

From Latin 'citare' meaning 'to set in motion, summon, call upon'. Originally meant to summon to court, later extended to mean calling upon written authorities for support in the 16th century.

Kelly Says

In our information age, citing has become both an art and a science - it's how we build knowledge upon previous knowledge, creating an invisible web of intellectual debt and scholarly conversation across centuries.
