Definition
An archaic second-person singular form meaning 'you form into clumps' or 'you move clumsily.'
Etymology
From clump as a verb, with the archaic -st suffix used in early modern English to indicate second-person singular (as in 'thou clumpst'). This form was standard in Early Modern English roughly from 1500–1750 but disappeared as English shifted away from the thou/thee pronoun system.
Kelly Says
The '-st' ending is why Shakespeare's characters say things like 'thou goest' and 'thou speakest'—it's not random, but rather a grammatical marker that modern English completely abandoned when we stopped using 'thou' and switched to 'you' for everyone. If English had kept the 'thou' system, we'd still be saying 'clumpst' to friends!
