Congestion

/kənˈdʒes.tʃən/ noun

Definition

A situation in which something is too full or crowded, such as blocked traffic or blocked body passages like a stuffy nose.

Etymology

From Latin *congestio*, from *congerere* "to bring together, heap up" (*con-* "together" + *gerere* "to carry"). It originally referred to things being piled up.

Kelly Says

Traffic congestion and nasal congestion are the same story: too much stuff in too little space. Cities and bodies both suffer when flow stops and buildup starts.
