Definition
Relating to, resembling, or composed of corpuscles or tiny particles.
Etymology
From 'corpuscule' or 'corpusculum' plus the suffix '-ous,' which forms adjectives meaning 'having the quality of' or 'full of.' This is an alternate adjectival form to 'corpuscular,' less commonly used in modern English.
Kelly Says
The suffix '-ous' (meaning 'full of') appears in hundreds of English words from Latin—dangerous, marvelous, nervous—but 'corpusculous' is quite rare because 'corpuscular' proved more efficient, showing how languages naturally eliminate redundant options.
