Disprovable

/dɪsˈpɹuvəbəl/ adjective

Definition

Capable of being disproven or shown to be false; able to be refuted with evidence.

Etymology

From disprove + -able (capable of being). The suffix -able allows the verb disprove to become an adjective describing what can be disproven.

Kelly Says

In science, the best hypotheses are disprovable—Karl Popper argued that a theory must be disprovable to be scientific, because untestable claims can never be truly scientific.
