Definition
The act or process of exiling someone; banishment.
Etymology
From exile plus the suffix -ment, which creates nouns representing an action, process, or result. This is a more formal or archaic way to express the concept of banishment.
Kelly Says
While we now use the simpler 'exile' for both noun and verb, 'exilement' is the older English form, preserving the distinction between the person and the act of banishing them.
