Foresight

/ˈfɔːr.saɪt/ noun

Definition

Foresight is the ability to think about what might happen in the future and prepare for it. It often helps people avoid problems or make better decisions.

Etymology

From Old English “fore” meaning “before” and “sight” meaning “the act of seeing.” Over time it shifted from literally seeing ahead to mentally imagining what lies ahead.

Kelly Says

Foresight is like having a mental time machine—you can’t visit the future, but you can run ‘future simulations’ in your head. People and companies that seem ‘lucky’ often just have good foresight. They spot patterns early and quietly prepare long before others notice.
