Vision

/ˈvɪʒən/ noun

Definition

Vision is the ability to see, or a strong, imaginative idea of what the future could be like.

Etymology

From Latin “visio,” meaning “a seeing, sight, or appearance,” from “vidēre,” meaning “to see.” Over time it grew to include not just physical sight but mental images and dreams of the future.

Kelly Says

Companies talk about a “vision statement” because seeing the future in your mind guides present actions. Your brain actually uses the same visual areas when you imagine something intensely as when you truly see it.
