Definition
A biological structure or organism that has tongue-like appendages resembling feet or limbs, particularly in certain marine organisms.
Etymology
From Greek 'glossa' (tongue) + 'podos' (foot). This rare anatomical term describes organisms where tongue-like and foot-like structures are either combined or difficult to distinguish morphologically.
Kelly Says
This is a pretty obscure term, but it reminds us that early biologists were trying to name creatures they barely understood—when you're seeing something weird for the first time, describing it as 'tongue-foot' might be the best you can do!
