Money

/ˈmʌni/ noun

Definition

Money is anything that is widely accepted as payment for goods and services, such as coins, paper bills, or digital balances. It makes trading easier by giving things a common value.

Etymology

From Old French “moneie,” from Latin “moneta,” originally the title of the goddess Juno whose temple in Rome housed a mint. Over time, the word shifted from the place of minting to the coins themselves.

Kelly Says

Money’s name comes from a goddess whose temple rang with the sound of metal being struck into coins. Behind the numbers in your bank app is a deep history of religion, trust, and agreed‑upon symbols of value.
