Movement is the act or process of moving from one place or position to another. It can also mean a group of people working together for a shared social, political, or artistic goal, or a major section of a musical piece.

Etymology

From Old French *movemenz*, based on Latin *movimentum*, from *movere* “to move.” Over time it gained abstract senses for organized action and for structured parts of a musical work.
