Offline

/ˌɔːfˈlaɪn/ adjective, adverb

Definition

Not connected to the internet or a network; also, done separately from the main discussion or system.

Etymology

From "off" plus "line," where "online" originally meant connected to a communication line or system. "Offline" developed as the opposite state: disconnected from the active line.

Kelly Says

The phrase "let’s take this offline" in meetings doesn’t mean "no internet"; it means "let’s move this out of the main conversation." The digital metaphor has escaped the computer and now organizes our social talk too.
