Polyglot

/ˈpɒliɡlɒt/ noun

Definition

A person who knows and is able to use several languages — someone whose mind contains multiple worlds.

Etymology

From Greek polyglottos (many-tongued), from poly (many) + glotta (tongue, language). The Rosetta Stone is the most famous polyglot artifact — the same text in Egyptian hieroglyphs, Demotic script, and Ancient Greek. It unlocked an entire civilization.

Kelly Says

Every language you learn is not just a new way of speaking — it is a new way of thinking. German has words English cannot match. Japanese has levels of politeness English cannot express. A polyglot does not just speak many languages; they think in many architectures.
