Premeditated

/priːˈmɛdɪteɪtɪd/ adjective

Definition

Planned or thought about beforehand, especially referring to a crime that was deliberately planned in advance.

Etymology

From Latin 'prae-' (before) plus 'meditari' (to think or consider). It literally means 'thought about beforehand' and became an important legal term to distinguish planned crimes from impulsive ones.

Kelly Says

In criminal law, 'premeditated murder' is considered much more serious than a crime of passion because it shows the person had time to think and still chose to do it anyway!
