Scorpio

/ˈskɔrpioʊ/ noun

Definition

The eighth astrological sign of the zodiac, represented by a scorpion and associated with people born between October 23 and November 21. It is also a constellation in the southern sky.

Etymology

From Latin 'scorpio' meaning 'scorpion', derived from Greek 'skorpios'. The constellation was named by ancient astronomers who saw the pattern of stars as resembling a scorpion's shape with its curved tail.

Kelly Says

Scorpio is one of the few zodiac signs represented by a dangerous creature, reflecting its astrological associations with intensity, transformation, and hidden depths. The constellation contains Antares, a red supergiant star whose name means 'rival of Mars' because of its similar reddish appearance.
