Definition
A constellation in the southern sky that is part of the zodiac, shaped like a scorpion and visible in summer months in the Northern Hemisphere.
Etymology
From Latin 'scorpius,' from Greek 'skorpios' (scorpion). The constellation has been recognized since ancient times and appears in mythology across multiple cultures.
Kelly Says
Scorpius is one of the few zodiac constellations that actually looks like what it's supposed to be—the bright red star Antares is its heart, and ancient astronomers could actually trace out a scorpion shape, which is why it stuck around for thousands of years!
