Security

/səˈkjʊrəti/ noun

Definition

Security is the state of being safe from harm, danger, or loss, and the measures taken to protect people, places, or information.

Etymology

From Latin “securitas” meaning “freedom from care,” from “securus” meaning “safe, untroubled.” It broadened from a feeling to the systems that create that feeling.

Kelly Says

We talk about “security” in banks, airports, and computers, but the real goal is emotional: feeling safe enough to relax. The firewalls and guards are just tools for buying peace of mind.
