Definition
All the conditions and facts that are true at a particular time and place. It describes what is going on around someone or something.
Etymology
“Situation” comes from Medieval Latin “situatio,” from Latin “situare,” meaning “to place” or “to position.” Originally it referred to the physical placement of something. Over time it expanded to mean the whole set of circumstances around an event.
Kelly Says
A “situation” started as just where something was sitting. Then humans did what we always do: we turned physical space into mental space. Now your “situation” can be a money problem, a family drama, or a global crisis—not just where your chair is.
