Definition
Plural of toilet; bathrooms or the porcelain fixtures used for bodily waste disposal.
Etymology
From French 'toilette' (cloth for washing), which evolved to mean the washing process itself, then the room where washing occurred. Eventually it specifically meant the fixture in that room.
Kelly Says
The word 'toilet' originally meant a *cloth* for washing! It traveled from fabric → washing ritual → the bathroom itself → finally the porcelain throne. Language evolves as bathrooms do!
