Definition
The act of building walls; also the walls themselves or the process of enclosing something with walls.
Etymology
From 'wall,' which comes from Old English 'weall,' borrowed from Latin 'vallum' (rampart). The '-ing' suffix transforms the noun into a gerund describing the action or material.
Kelly Says
When archaeologists find ancient 'walling' patterns, they can date civilizations by how the stones are stacked—different cultures from China to Peru built walls in completely different ways!
