Anticynicism

/ˌæntɪˈsɪnɪsɪzəm/ noun

Definition

A philosophy or attitude that opposes cynicism and maintains faith in human goodness, sincerity, and noble intentions.

Etymology

From anti- + cynicism (the practice of disbelieving in human sincerity). Cynicism traces to the Cynics, ancient Greek philosophers. Anticynicism emerged as a label for opposing such worldviews.

Kelly Says

Anticynicism as a philosophy says 'yes, people can be selfish, BUT humans also created art, science, medicine, and love'—it's actively choosing to believe in human potential despite evidence of human flaws, which is kind of the ultimate optimism!
