Definition
A Sanskrit term for a yoga posture or pose; any of the physical positions practiced in yoga.
Etymology
From Sanskrit āsana meaning 'seat' or 'sitting position.' Originally referred to proper sitting posture for meditation, later expanded to all physical yoga poses.
Kelly Says
Yoga teachers use 'asana' to describe specific poses, but the word originally just meant a comfortable way to sit down—it's wild how this concept expanded into the hundreds of poses modern yogis practice.
