Definition
Plural of avive; possibly a technical term in music, fencing, or heraldry referring to repeated movements or revival.
Etymology
From French avives, possibly related to Latin avivus (enlivened). Usage is extremely specialized and historical documentation is limited.
Kelly Says
This is one of those words that survives in extremely narrow specialized fields—if you study historical fencing, you might encounter 'avives' as technical terminology, but most people will never need it.
