Dactylogram

/ˈdæktɪləɡræm/ noun

Definition

A record or impression of a fingerprint, including the unique ridge patterns and whorls that identify an individual.

Etymology

From Greek daktylos (finger) + gramma (writing/mark). This term became standard in forensic science at the end of the 19th century when fingerprint classification systems were developed.

Kelly Says

Every dactylogram is as unique as a snowflake—even identical twins have different fingerprints—which is why governments literally keep millions of these records under lock and key.
