Definition
Dermatology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists diagnose and treat skin diseases, and also help people care for their skin’s health and appearance.
Etymology
From Greek "derma" meaning "skin" and "-logy" meaning "study of." It entered English through medical Latin in the 18th–19th centuries as doctors began specializing in different parts of the body.
