Plural of entropy; measures of disorder or randomness in a system, used in physics and thermodynamics.
Etymology
From Greek 'en-' (in) and 'trope' (turning), literally 'a turning inward.' Coined by Rudolf Clausius in 1865 as a physics term meaning the unavoidable disorder that increases in closed systems over time.
