Reactions

/riˈækʃənz/ noun

Definition

Responses or changes that happen when something acts upon you, or in chemistry, when substances combine to form new things.

Etymology

From Latin 're-' (back) + 'agere' (to do/act), meaning 'to act back.' The word came into science to describe chemical processes in the 1600s-1700s.

Kelly Says

Your nose literally has a chemical reaction to smells—odor molecules bind to receptors that trigger signals to your brain in milliseconds, which is why you smell danger before you consciously see it.
