Definition
In chemistry, relating to a solution with a concentration of one-tenth molar, or 0.1 moles per liter.
Etymology
From 'deci-' (one-tenth) plus 'molar' (relating to moles of solute). Technical chemistry term using the metric prefix system established in the 1800s.
Kelly Says
Chemists use 'decimolar' solutions constantly in labs because 0.1 M is a convenient concentration—strong enough to see reactions but dilute enough to handle safely, making it the Goldilocks zone of chemistry.
